A seductively toxic gay romance

Blurb

Whatever happened in your past, did not happen. And I am your only future.
I am obsessed with you; you’re obsessed with me.

You hurt me to comfort me.

You break me to put me back together.

And I do the same to you.

I am addicted to you; you’re addicted to me.

You told me this would be a bad idea.

You warned me of the heartache.

And I did it anyway.

I like you; you like me.

When I see you, my sun rises.

When I see you, it is summer in Berlin.

When I see you, I can still hear us laugh.

But I wasn’t gonna go, and you weren’t gonna stay.

I wonder if your heart aches when you see me.

I wonder if your sun rises when you see me.

I wonder if you smile …

And if you do, will you stay?

Or will I go?

You. Always You. is a steamy 44k vignette about a toxic love story between two men. It features elements of romance, humor, hurt/comfort, a dash of violence, mild age play, and Daddy play. Approach with caution. You’ve been warned.

Excerpt

My little puppy

I frown down at you while you stare up at me with your big, dark puppy eyes. “What are you still doing up? It’s past eleven.”

“I was waiting for you, Daddy.”

I smirk, like I’d fall for that. “You know the rules.”

“No, really!” Suddenly, your voice sounds almost childish. You’ve turned little right in front of me. You push your laptop carelessly off to the side and blink up at me. “I was waiting for you, Daddy.” You jump up to stand, hands going for my shirt.

I shake my head, “Uh-uh.” I know your games, your excuses. You’ve been watching something on your laptop and lost track of time. It’s always the same … the longer you stay up, the longer you’ll sleep in. Or not sleep at all. It’s not good for you, which is why we have the 10 p.m. bedtime rule.

“Daddy,” you whine, fingers curling in my shirt to pull at me. You can tell that I’m disappointed, yet you lie once more, “I was waiting for you. I cannot sleep without my Daddy …”

I stand still, watch your well-practiced innocent act play across your face and then reach down to unclasp your fingers from my shirt. “Take off my sweater.” Your eyes grow wide as I say that. I usually love seeing my clothes on you. Especially when we’re around other people. “Take it off.”

“But—”

“Now,” I growl, snapping my fingers as if that would make you move faster. It doesn’t.

Instead, you keep arguing. “I’ll be cold!”

“I said … Take. It. Off.”

“Why …?” you mumble as you finger the seam of the long sweater; it’s black and warm.

“You don’t deserve it.” I can hear the whine emanate from your throat, spilling past your lips. I could spank you. I could forbid you to watch any movies next weekend, but instead, I choose this. It’s a greater punishment for you to shed something that so clearly marks you as mine. “I’m taking it back.”

“No, no, you cannot do that!” You lunge forward again, tugging at my shirt while I stand above you like a statue. Tall and imposing. “You gave it to me, Daddy. It was a gift.”

“I take it back.” A pained sound escapes your lips, unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. Your bottom lip quivers and your eyes turn glossy. It pains you, deeply. But it also angers you, I can feel it simmer below the surface.

“Fine,” you snap.

“Fine what?” I probe as you take a step back, still not taking off my sweater. In fact, you cross your arms like a petulant child.

“I watched something on Netflix because I didn’t want to go to sleep,” you admit, mumbling every word; it’s almost adorable. But mostly amusing.

“There you go,” I say and sit down on the couch while you still stand beside it. You turn back to look at me over your shoulder, arms still crossed.

“I am keeping the sweater,” you announce; it makes me chuckle. I am already thinking about how I can punish you. This is always the best part. Punishing my little puppy.

“You lied to me. Liars must be punished.” Shuffling on your feet, you move to face me completely, the sleeves of my sweater covering your hands because you pulled them all the way down.

“But-but I confessed ...”

I arch an eyebrow and shake my head at you, “Not good enough.” A few moments tick by before I tell you to kneel. You kneel. I order you to take off my shoes, you do that too.

I always enjoy watching you down there, between my feet, placing my shoes neatly below the coffee table. Like I’ve trained you to do. The first time you’d just tossed them aside. Bad little puppy. No more sloppiness.

So, I supposed to review this book without the epilogue :)
If you read this book without the epilogue (I read the one with it), you'll hate the ending. But I can't unread the epilogue, thought I won't say a word about what I red.
Me and you's story supposed to be just a summer fling during pandemic. No string, no heart involved.
But there's something about this stupid pandemic. Either you're getting closer, or you're going to have a separation. You choose.
M.E. though, wrote this story like a memoir of someone close to his heart, someone he will never forget all his life.
I've gotten the Oliver - Elio's vibe near the end of this story, and it still hurt like a bitch.
I knew M.E's writing before this book, so I won't expect something too sweet and too nice.
So yeah, don't expect a HEA if you read the one with no epilogue.
Maybe I and You need a second book to complete their story. I hope.

Just Friends by Saxon James

FINAL Just Friends

A Never Just Friends Novel, Book 1

Roo

Five years ago, I walked away from Sunbury, Oregon, and left my best friend behind. The move was supposed to get my life on track. I even had a list.
Life-changing epilepsy surgery. Check.
See the world. Check.
Get over my straight best friend … Not exactly.
No matter where I go or who I meet, I can’t let Tanner go.
I’m back to tell him how I feel. To get the closure I need once and for all.
Only now I’m here and falling for him all over again, it’s getting harder to say the words.
Because once I have my closure, I’ll be gone.
And this time it will be for good.

Tanner

When my best friend, Roo, left for Australia, it was the worst day of my life.
I thought we’d have each other always.
But Roo needed the surgery so I let him go, thinking he’d come straight back.
Five years is a long time.
Now he’s here, all I want is to hold on tight.
I need to show him what he means to me.
The problem is, I’m not exactly sure what that is.
My draw to him has always been confusing and different—everyone in town says so. But I struggle to understand it.
All I know is I won’t survive him leaving again.
And I’ll do anything to make him stay.

New Excerpt for the Blog Tour:

“Tell me something I don’t know about you,” Roo blurts out.

My eyebrows jump up. “Ah, like what?”

I don’t know. That’s the point of the question.”

Huh, I guess it is. I frown at the ripples in the water as I try to think of something—anything—Roo might not know about me. “I …” What? Where the hell was I going with that? “I don’t think there’s anything you don’t know.”

“Nothing?”

“Not off the top of my head. What about you?”

He bites his freckled lip as he thinks. “I’m sure there’s probably a lot. Out of curiosity, is there anything I could tell you that would make you hate me?”

I scoff. “Never.”

“What about if I hurt animals for fun?”

The hypothetical takes me a second. “Yeah, okay, that would be a deal breaker.”

“Or if I was an arsonist?”

I shake my head. “But you’re not those things.”

“I’m not. But like you said, things are different. Maybe there are things about me you wouldn’t like.”

And out of all the hypotheticals in the world, those are a steaming pile of stupid. “Nah, because no matter how much you’ve changed, you’re still a good person. So I don’t think anything would make me walk away.”

His expression is full of skepticism. “Remember you said that.”

“Should I be worried?”

“I don’t think so.” But he doesn’t look happy.

And Roo being unhappy is unacceptable. Deciding the conversation is over, I grab the hand resting on my shoulder and tug him until he’s behind me, before grabbing his other hand and locking his arms around my neck.

“Tanner, what are you—”

Holding his wrists with one hand, I dive, submerging us again, but this time I don’t let him go. If swimming gets him out of breath, then I’ll make things easy for him, because that’s what I do.

We spend another hour there, Roo holding on as I swim up and down the pool. We toss remember whens back and forth, and his voice in my ear reminds me of old times. Of falling asleep listening to his fierce rants about the world. Or his jokes. Or his plans for the future.

Just Friends (Never Just Friends, #1)Just Friends by Saxon James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just Friends is an epitome of a blind seeing any sign that you're actually in love for a long time.
while Roo realized it for forever, Tanner was the opposite. Though he never wanted to to lose Roo for anything and anyone, he insisted that they're just friends.
This is the case that 'everyone sees but Tanner didn't'. But Tanner and Roo always cute together.
I liked that the only angst in this story is Tanner's blindness for seeing that Roo is always his forever love.
This is a sweet no angst second chance friends to lovers story I needed. A comfort read. And this is sweet, but not overly sweet, just right.

Special Release Excerpt:

He leaned against me, taking a swig of his water and staring out at the moon, hanging over the ocean like a giant silver coin. “It’s really perfect for a honeymoon, isn’t it?” He smelled of the resort soap, jasmine and sea salt, and the natural tang of manly sweat. It wasn’t something I’d ever thought of as sexy before, but on him, sitting there on the beach, it really was.

I kissed the top of his head and rested my cheek against his hair. “It is. Your honeymoon’s gonna be the best when you have it for real. Maybe your husband’ll rent the penthouse and keep you here a month. Nothing but sun and sea and a giant heart-shaped bed.”

He chuckled at that, swallowing his bite of sandwich before answering. “There are no heart-shaped beds anywhere in this resort. This isn’t the eighties.”

“Heart-shaped hot tub?”

“Now those, we have,” he agreed, and turned to look up at me, pupils enormous in the dark. “I don’t need that, though. As long as he’s here, and not in my apartment, fucking Ian.”

“Sweetheart, I wouldn’t fuck Ian with someone else’s dick,” I promised, on the assumption that Ian was the best friend. I might have been offering to take him on a honeymoon, but I wasn’t sure anymore. The conversation had gone around in a circle, and all I knew was that I wanted to take the sadness out of his eyes.

Apparently it worked, since he giggled, shoulders shaking and eyes lit with mirth. “What about me?”

I grinned as I leaned forward and gave him a peck on the lips. “Not planning on needing anything but my own for you.”

When he gave me a dreamy smile, I leaned in again and took his mouth, wrapping one hand around the back of his neck and pressing in. He gave a tiny whimper and clung to me, fingers wrapped tight around my arms.

When I pulled back, he stayed there, eyes closed and lips parted, breath coming in short pants. “I’m going to need you to go ahead and prove that.”

When the combination of our love of music and my overwhelming need to take care of him meets jealousy, sparks fly. His heart may be damaged, but nothing is beyond repair.

Now all I have to do is convince him that I’m in this for the long haul, not just this moment.

Sure, he’s sexy as sin and has a love of music that rivals my own, but all that is just grounds for a new friendship. Nothing more. Right?

Yet, every moment we spend together tests a little bit more of my self control. When it turns out my roommate is not as straight as I once thought, I have to decide if this is one playlist I should listen to.

Will we have our own love song, or will this just be another broken-hearted ballad?

Special Release Excerpt:

“Chance.”

My hand is on the door handle, so I turn towards his voice. Only Tyler is standing much closer than I expected. He’s in my personal space, with only inches between us, an uncertain but determined look on his face.

I gulp. “Yeah?” That came out softer and raspier than I expected.

Tyler reaches out and grabs my wrist gently, pulling my hand off the door to turn me towards him. Then, he just stares up into my eyes from beneath his lashes, his eyes speaking so loudly it’s as if he’s screaming at me. He’s not saying anything, but my body is responding to his unspoken words the way lyrics intersect and wrap around a melody.

He sways towards me a little more and whispers, “I’m glad you said yes.”

Fuck it. This is either going to go up in a ball of flames and burn down to ashes or be one of the best moments of my life. My hand cups the back of Tyler’s neck and brings him closer to me and our mouths fuse together.

Tyler’s lips are soft and hesitant. Probably from the shock of me initiating the first move. Let’s be honest; we’re both surprised over that. But after a few seconds of gentle coaxing, Tyler lets out an almost imperceptible whimper and goes from a passive to an active participant.

He parts his mouth, and I dive in to caress his tongue with my own. Tyler releases my wrist and wraps his arms around my shoulders, trying to pull me closer. Our bodies are closely connected, and I can feel every inch of him against me.

Our kiss is fierce but gentle, dancing tongues and slight nips at each other's lips. With my other hand on Tyler’s lower back, I push his hips towards mine, aligning our fronts together. I can feel his erection pressing into me through my jeans, and my dick is painfully hard trying to find its own escape.

I pull my head back just slightly to take a breath. Rather than separate from him fully, I press a kiss to the side of his mouth. We’re both breathing hard, and I've never been more turned on in my life. I move my lips down his cheek towards his jawline.

The B-SideThe B-Side by B. Harmony
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The B-Side was a nice story, adorable room-mates to lover. This story has a lot of potential to be a great read. But I'm not too keen of too much telling writing style. That ended with me skimming some parts of this book that I don't think necessary.
I got bored easily reading this kind of writing.
But overall, the story itself has potential, especially when it come to the little boys who called Tyler, "King Tyler".
I wanted to like this one more, but I can only gave it three stars. I like it, but not really enjoying this.
