Not So Sincerely, Yours Cover

For Him, Book 2

Ethan,
About last night... I could blame the bourbon. I could say I let things get out of hand, that I should have never called you, but I'm done lying to myself—to you. I know what you're going to say. You're not very good at keeping your opinions to yourself, but this can't happen. It's inappropriate, at best. I'm your boss. Not to mention, you're clearly still hung up on him. I'm not a consolation prize.

Anders~

**

Anders,
You didn't think it was inappropriate when you had your tongue down my throat, but I digress. As for your accusation, I'm not the only one stuck in the past, but at least I'm not running from it. I can't believe I'm about to say this… Maybe you're right. You shouldn’t have called me. Especially if you never intended to own it. Own that you wanted it to happen. Admit that you wanted me.

Not so sincerely,
Yours

Release Blitz Excerpt:

“You’re early,” he said, his voice smooth and bored.

He didn’t spare me a glance as he pulled keys from his pocket and opened the door.

My jaw ached as I gritted my teeth. “Early? You told me to be here at seven.”

“Did I?” he asked, and I could hear the fucking humor in his voice.

“Yeah…” Asshole. “You did.”

I followed him into the office, the lights automatically illuminating as we stepped inside. The place was nice, not as cold as I assumed it would be. Instead of glass and metal, everything was warm wood and earth tones.

“Office hours are nine to four. Kris used to show up around eight-thirty,” he said, leaning against the only desk in the lobby. “This is your workspace. I’ll get your log-in information when you get back.”

I took a calming breath. “Back from where?”

“The Starbucks two blocks west from here.” His lips lifted more on the right side of his mouth, his grin crooked. He was enjoying himself at my expense. “Americano for me, and you can get whatever you want within reason. Here…” He reached into his bag while I seethed. No apology for making me sit in the damn cold for over an hour, nope, right to business. “This is the company card. I expect a receipt for any purchases you make for me or Lowe Literary.”

I took the card from his hand. “Receipts. Got it.”

His blue eyes traveled over my body slow and disapproving. I had on the best pair of jeans I owned and borrowed one of Jax’s polo shirts. I didn’t have the money for bullshit designer suits, but I cleaned up okay.

“You’re the face of Lowe Literary, Mr. Calloway. I expect you to dress like you give a shit.”

I huffed out a laugh. “Well, I expect a boss who shows up on time.”

“I was on time.” Arrogant as hell, he slipped his hand into his slacks.

“Why did you tell me seven if we don’t open until nine?” I asked, ignoring his confident glare.

He hesitated, and I wondered what bullshit excuse he was about to give me when he surprised me with the truth. “Initiation. Payback. Perhaps a bit of both.”

I understood the payback part. I’d be pissed if I caught strangers fucking in my house too. But initiation? Like what? Hazing?

“Look, I’m sorry about—”

He raised his hand, silencing me. “You’re here because Wilder asked me to help out his friend. Apologies are unnecessary. This isn’t about you. It’s best if you remember that. Show up. Do your job. And there won’t be a problem.”

Before I had a chance to reply, he walked away and disappeared down the hall. Furious, and feeling smaller than I ever had in my entire life, I contemplated quitting. I didn’t need to put up with his shit. I could be on site with Jax in an hour if I wanted. I slammed my eyes shut and tried to push down my anger and pride. This job would allow me the time I needed to do my schoolwork. And according to the nursing program advisor I’d spoken with last week, I had a shit ton of prerequisites I had to complete before I could even apply to the RN program. If it weren’t for Mr. Superiority Complex, this would be the chillest job I could find. And I’d never find a gig that paid me as well as this did. I groaned and pocketed the business credit card, hating the way Anders had me by the balls.

Not So Sincerely, Yours (For Him, #2)Not So Sincerely, Yours by A.M. Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first ever book with this author, and she didn't disappoint me. I am now listening to Wilder and Jax story from the first book of this installment. Knowing Wilder had somehow disappointed Anders and made Anders the way he is now.
I wanted to hate Wilder for what he did to Anders, but I can't. He proved in this book, he can be a supportive friend for Anders.
As for Ethan, I loved Ethan, he's sweet, brave to say what he wanted, and he's a sunshine to Anders darkness.
Anders and Ethan were like yin and yang, they needed each other and they're definitely made for each other.
Not So Sincerely, Yours was rich with fun email banters between Anders and Ethan, to be honest, my favorite parts of this book.
I loved how easy they're to each other on the email, but kinda holding back in real life.
No thanks to Anders past with his ex. The balance between Ethan and Anders lives, and how they were supporting each other was the main body of this story.
Angst level was very low, which I needed sometimes in my reading.
It was a long book, but Anders and Ethan will surely entertain you.
I recommend to read the first book to get to know Anders life before Ethan.

Review and Blog Post : The Boy who loved Wicked by C.P. Harris

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway:

The Boy Who Loved Wicked
By C.P. Harris

TheBoyWhoLovedWicked-f

“The madness of love is the greatest of heaven’s blessings.”
-Plato

Day 1 of senior year at Denwin High was not supposed to end with my thoughts consumed by the new AP Philosophy teacher. I’d impatiently waited three years to take the course, but from the moment he strode in with his sad eyes that mirrored my own, I was intrigued by only him.

Dr. Sebastian Wicked.

Intrigue turned into obsession, and common interests set the stage for a tentative friendship with the enigmatic man. In time, every line put in place became blurred as what we shared sparked the flames of a forbidden affair. An affair that should've never been, a wrong that the universe sought to right.

There was only one possible outcome—we were both going to burn. Would our love rise up from the ashes? Or would it smolder in the ruins?

My name is Phoenix Michaelson, and I am The Boy Who Loved Wicked.

Release Blitz Excerpt:

“You’re worth the risk, Phoenix.” I said another silent prayer, swallowing around the dread lodged in my airway, and quelled the thoughts that said we needed to stop this now.

“I am?”

“You awakened something in me that first day with your passion and willingness to challenge me. In all my years of teaching, there’s never been a student that came to me not seeking knowledge but to exchange information and ideas. I’d become complacent, jaded even. You forced me to stand up straight and call on all the parts of my brain I no longer used.” My life before Phoenix mocked me now, tickling the back of my neck, calling me home. I refused to turn at the sound of its voice, and I smacked my nape as if ridding myself of a buzzing fly.

“I’d been preparing all my life for it,” he said. “It’s the one area I’m completely confident in. I’m the most comfortable in my skin during your class.” He squeezed my straining biceps. “And here, like this.”

“‘How many are the things a man can do without.’” I situated our cocks and began a slow frot.

“Socrates.” His breath stuttered in his lungs, and his fingers dug in hard enough to leave marks.

“You are not one of those things, Phoenix.” I kissed the corner of his eye, my lips soaking up the moisture that slipped from it. I bore my weight down on him, clutching him to me, inhaling from the spot behind his ear, wishing I could swallow him whole.

Special Release Tour Excerpt:

I managed to get upstairs at the Sigma Mu Tau house without encountering anyone or having to explain why I was covered in mud. I took a shower, using soap to clean a scraped area on my knee and palm, applied antibiotic from my first aid kit, and put on some comfy PJs.

Then I sat on my bed. My roommate, Dobbs, was out. I should study, but I didn’t.

It had started to rain again, and I stared out the window, unable to get certain words out of my head.

“Well, I sure as hell hope not. Because if you were stupid on top of that, you sure would have been dealt a raw deal in life.”

That being my body, which was woefully pale, weak, and pathetic, like the guy who gets sand kicked in his face in those famous old Jack LaLane ads. That was the objective truth, so why should Bubba’s words hurt me? He hadn’t even been mean. He’d been nice to me, in fact.

Did that make it worse? Possibly.

Well, of course I was out of shape! Why did he think I volunteered to play ridiculous flag football in the first place? Yes, I wanted to help my fraternity meet Dean Robberts requirements so our house didn’t get closed. The dean told my frat, the Sigma Mu Taus, that we had to have two of our guys on the Alpha Lambda Alpha flag-football team to prove we could all work together or he’d shut us down. Of course, I wasn’t going to let that happen. But mostly, I volunteered because it gave me a chance to get in shape. I mean, those ALAs were buff. They were gorgeous, and I figured some of that could rub off on me.

I was a senior. It was February. I only had a few months left of my undergrad years. And I was still a virgin. I’d spent my high school years taking advanced classes and having no social life. My social life now consisted of role-playing games, video games, and watching TV with my SMT housemates.

I knew where I was going in life. My parents were both geneticists. They worked for the same company—that was how they met. Genome sequencing. They were bright and dedicated. They worked long hours at their research. That would be my life too. But before that, until then, I wanted to… to….

To live a little. I wanted to step outside the box, do something un-Sean McKinney-like. I wanted to party, to ride in fast cars, to have wild-and-crazy sex.

Or any sex!

And to achieve that goal, I needed to be more attractive. Hell, I wouldn’t want to have sex with the limp noddle physique I saw in the bathroom mirror. I desperately wanted to increase my hotness factor. That’s why I’d made it my one and only New Year’s resolution to get fit.

My palm stung. I pulled back the dressing to peek at it, and my stubborn streak kicked in.

Screw you, Alpha Lambda Alpha, you A-hoes. If you think a little scrape is going to discourage me, you’ve got another thing coming. I will play flag football. And I’ll get in shape, too, because I am going to get laid!

Coaching the NerdCoaching the Nerd by Eli Easton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bubba and Sean were just too adorable together. After everyone who were doubting them, they're surely worked hand in hand together to rove to anyone that Bubba is not as dumb as they thought, and Sean is not as lame as they wanted to see.
Also, the surprise with Bubba's father? I never thought that was coming tbh.
Parents were still their main problems beside the physical stereotyping from people around them.
But I can see that Bubba and Sean were strong together.
Coaching the Nerd was a bit lighter than the previous book, and I cannot wait for Jax and Rand's book to come.

Release Blitz & Review : Emerett Has Never Been In Love by Anyta Sunday

Release Blitz, Excerpt & Giveaway:
Emerett Has Never Been In Love
By Anyta Sunday

Emerett-f

Love, Austen (Book 1)

A man who acts before he thinks, a man who thinks before he acts, and the ensuing mishaps on the path to the ultimate love match.

~ ~ ~

Emerett “Lake” Lakewood has a healthy ego and a flair for the dramatic. After losing his best friend to marriage—completely crushing his heart—he deems it prudent to distract himself, and what better way than playing cupid?

He’s already got his eye on two young men desperately seeking romance, and he has a plan to hook them up.

Barbecues.

Photoshoots.

Reciting Shakespearean love declarations.

Lake is killing it. Love is positively pulsing in the air. Anyone could see it.

Well, anyone other than Knight, his best friend’s dad, who cautions Lake to stop meddling. To leave love to its natural course.

Lake has always valued Knight’s frankness, but this time he’s wrong. Without him, two hearts might be doomed never to find love.

Besides, what does Knight know about romance? He’s barely dated in all the seven years Lake’s known him. He’s clueless. Though, there’s a thought. Knight has everything going for him. Sensibility. Kindness. Generosity. And for a forty-four-year-old, he’s—objectively—freaking hot.

Why is he single?

~ ~ ~

“. . . [T]here may be a hundred different ways of being in love.”
~ Jane Austen

And a hundred different ways not to recognize it.

Special Release Blitz Excerpt:

Knight stood at the fireplace, head bowed, brows sloped into a frown. Sunlight from the windows printed a large square of light over his T-shirt, jeans, and the heels of his naked feet. Lost in thought, Knight pinched the lily he’d left on the mantelpiece by the stem, shutting his eyes as he breathed in that creamy-clove scent. A weary sigh sagged his shoulders.

Tenderness thumped in Lake’s chest. At Knight’s fond smile, he pushed into the room.

Knight’s head shot up and he clasped his hands behind his back. “Lake.”

Lake smiled softly. “You miss your son.”

“My son?” Surprise—confusion?—flickered over Knight’s face.

Lake gestured to the lily behind him. “You don’t have to hide it from me. I like the reminder that you’re human.”

Knight paused, and returned the lily to the mantelpiece. “All too human, I’m afraid.”

“Don’t worry. You hide it well.”

“That seems the right thing to do.” After a beat, Knight looked over at Lake with practiced tolerance. “The barbecue is not until next Sunday. Why are you back?”

“Why do you think I left?” Lake dropped his satchel onto the armchair and draped himself on his favorite couch. “I promised to help at the food bank. I’d have been here an hour ago, but Philip needed a ride home. He hates being in his big empty apartment. He was reluctant to get out of the car.”

“And you think the apartment is the reason?”

“I invited him to the barbecue—you should have seen how fast he lit up.”

Knight’s lips rolled into a half-grin, yet his voice resonated boredom. “I can imagine. Why are you back?”

A yawn pulled at Lake, deep in his chest. It had been a long day on little sleep. “You have two guestrooms.”

“You have an entire cottage and your father’s old distillery.”

True. However . . . “Neither feel the same since he passed away.”

Knight spoke tentatively, “It’s been years . . .”

“Years practically living with you and your son.”

Knight narrowed worried eyes on him. “Or years avoiding the past?”

Lake waggled a finger at him, grinning over the lingering pain of losing his dad on the heels of losing his mum. “Shrewd man.”

“My son doesn’t live here.”

“Shrewder still.” Lake sighed. “His and Amy’s new house isn’t the same. I feel like a third wheel.”

“That would be an accurate assessment.” A pause. “You were a third wheel here, too.”

“Yes, but it was easier with you.” More comfortable. He could always be completely himself.

Lake fished for the remote on the coffee table, not quite reaching it, but not quite willing to work for it either. He threw Knight a cheeky wink. “I’ve taken your guest room upstairs. We’re sharing a bathroom.”

Knight moved to the coffee table and offered him the remote. “Have you considered finding a more permanent living arrangement? Selling your inherited properties?”

Lake took the other end, but Knight didn’t let go. Awaiting an answer, of course. “The cottage maybe,” Lake admitted, “but the distillery has been in the Lakewood family for generations. Even though it’s sitting there unused, it feels wrong to give it up.”

Knight released his hold on the remote. “Start with the cottage, then.”

“It’s an awful lot of organizing—” At Knight’s flattening lips, Lake started nodding “—which I will get on to, very, very soon.”

If Knight were inanimate, he’d be an actionable item list. Procrastination was uncharted territory to him. He screamed checkbox, and a smarter person would grab the nearest pencil and start checking.

Lake offered up his most charming smile. “And until I get around to it?”

Knight sighed. “The guestroom downstairs has its own bathroom.”

“So actually, about that room. I had a thought.”

“Why do I suddenly feel anxious?”

Knight plucked up the remarkably preserved lily—all that hairspray, perhaps?—and hiked toward the archway that led to the dining room.

Lake rolled off the couch and skedaddled after him to the open kitchen. Door knobs, light fixtures, faucets, and hinges were all wrought-iron. Everything so charmingly rustic, a horse braying in the background wouldn’t have felt out of place.

“Amy’s cousin Harry. Early twenties, cute face. Auburn hair and freckles.”

“I recall. Very polite, very happy. Danced with his grandmother and his cousin most of the night. Seemed impressed with the wedding ceremony and reception.”

“He did love the crostini.”

Knight slipped the lily into a miniature vase and side-eyed him. “He wasn’t the only one.”

“Are there any left?”

Knight set the vase by the vintage water pitcher Lake had encouraged Taylor to buy his dad for Christmas, and opened the pantry. He brought out a crostini platter. “Picked them up this afternoon. If you hadn’t turned up uninvited, I’d have tracked you down.”

Lake grabbed a baked artichoke and parmesan crostini and moaned into a crunchy bite. “You’re the best, Knightly.”

“I do try, Emerett.”

Lake swallowed at his first name. It wasn’t something anyone else used, just Knight, and only on occasion. But when he did . . . it always jolted him.

Emerett Has Never Been in Love (Love, Austen, #1)Emerett Has Never Been in Love by Anyta Sunday
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emerett Has Never Been in Love is a retelling of Austen's story, Emma.
It was a super slow burn romance and loads of misunderstanding on Emerett/Lake's side. Especially when reading signs. About who like whom, and about his own feeling, also about a subtle and not so subtle signs Knighley gave him for quite a long time. Maybe because Knight is also, his best friend's father :)
To be honest, I never did finish Emma, it was (sorry) too boring for my weird taste. But Emerett Has Neven Been in Love was captivatingly beautiful story about 'we found love just where we are'.
I love Knight and his patience facing and dealing with Lake on daily basis, also with his oblivious how much Knight wanted him. But I also questioning Knight, why didn't he just gave it a move to tell Lake how he's feeling, instead of just waiting for Lake to find out.
A lot things happened, mostly Lake always misunderstanding, and his lacking of ability reading people.
I laugh a lot, Lake is funny guy, and he's so entertaining, and Knight... he's the epitome of a mature patient wise man, especially when it comes to Lake.

Emerett Has Neven Been in Love is an entertaining beautiful slow burn love story I enjoyed so much, I even ignored my gossip chats until I finished it :)
Cannot wait for the second installment of this series with Lake and Knight as cameo , I'm sure Lake will still be annoyingly adorable.
Recommended!
