When all seemed lost, the budding wordsmith is saved—in more than one sense—by Khalid Novak, a lifeguard at the lodge’s pool. Khalid is two years older, a bit more sophisticated, and the most incredibly alluring thing Dane has ever seen. The two young men find themselves joyously wound in a searing romance that teaches Dane that love can be wildly intense yet fleeting so one should revel in it when the discovery is made.
Can this summer romance survive the chill of autumn as well as the winds of time?
V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, Torchwood and Dr. Who, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a pair of geese, far too many chickens, and two steers.
When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in one hand and a steamy romance novel in the other.

Shake the Stars by V.L. Locey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
...Ooh, the beauty and pain of a first love...
I was conflicted on the first part of the story, about how fast Khalid and Dane fell in love on the summer holiday ten years ago.
About how childish Dane at the moment and how patient Khalid taking care of him, loving him and be everything Dane needed.
Young love was beautiful, added 'first', and everything came into places. Not to mention Khalid was Muslim.
But the love between Dane and Khalid passed all the barriers, that was just beautiful.
Everything's first was beautiful in the eyes of Dane.
But love's not that simple, huh?
There were came the day when everything fell down and they had to face the reality, that not everything so simple.
I hate to think that the had to separate that long to find the meaning of true love again, but yeah, it's all needed to learn their lessons.
Shake The Stars was beautiful and a bit poetic. I enjoyed Dane and Khalid's long journey to find each other, with all the angst, the love and family acceptance.
Side note to the author : Khalid need to perform Junuub before wudhu to pray, after had sex, or else, Allah will never accepted his prayer because only wudhu won't clean you after sex.
