September (Pride and Joy #1) by Robert Winter

32942151

David James is smart, successful, handsome… and alone. After the death of his lover, Kyle, from cancer, he buried himself in his law practice and the gym. At forty-eight, he is haunted by his memories and walled off from the world. When David injures himself working out, he’s assigned to Brandon Smith for physical therapy. The vibrant young therapist is attracted to David and realizes he needs a hand to get back into dating. What begins as a practice coffee date escalates to friendship, passion, and maybe something more, as they navigate a new relationship in Washington, DC, and the gay mecca of Provincetown.

But David remains trapped behind the barrier of fear and guilt. Will he remain loyal to Kyle’s memory if he moves on? Can he and Brandon manage a twenty-two-year age gap? Brandon thinks he understands David’s concerns, and for him, the answer to those questions is yes. He wants to be with David, and he believes he can overcome David’s barriers. But Brandon fails to account for the world’s reaction to a handsome young man attached to an older, wealthy lover. David’s memories, Brandon’s pride, and an unexpected tragedy might cost them something very special.

Because love is never easy.
It needs loads of tissue. And one was something I need to digest more slowly, because losing someone at David's age, was never easy. Been there before, and I'm glad David found Brandon and moved on (slowly).
This is not an easy read, no fun and rainbow, but the ending was worth waiting for. I can't blame David for his doubt and guilty feeling to his late lover, it was definitely understandable.
I'm glad Brandon can put up with it and he deserved all the happiness in his life. Kinda stubborn, but this is the struggles of almost the majority of gay relationship, so.
I just realized that this is Robert Winter's first book, and I will definitely read his other books in the future. The second book need to come out sooner!

Robert Ashton is in for the surprise of a lifetime. His mother, a bit of a rebel, raised him away from the rest of the family, and it’s not until he’s contacted by his lawyer about an inheritance that he learns who he truly is: the new Earl of Hantford. His legacy includes ownership of the historic Ashton Park Estate—which needs repairs Robert cannot afford. He’ll simply do what the nobility has done for centuries when in need of money. He’ll marry it.

Tech wizard Daniel Fabian is wealthy and successful. In fact, he has almost everything—except a title to make him worthy in the eyes of the old-money snobs he went to prep school with. His high school reunion is looming, and he’s determined to attend it as a member of the aristocracy.

That’s where Robert comes in.

Daniel has the money, Robert has the name, and both of them know they can help each other out. But their marriage of convenience has the potential to become a real love match—unless a threat to Daniel’s business ruins everything.

This book reminds me of Saving Crofton Hall. A lot.
No strong chemistry between the two main characters, it was all business.
Okay, they're probably hold it and can't communicate about it. And who's fault was it?
Every time one of them close to talk about it, the business came between them, and then, back to business. Again.
This is not I expected from the blurb, I need some more romantic moments between them, instead of the history, and business (yeah).
I loved history, especially British one. But this one was making me a little bit bored.
I know it was just me. Or not.

OMG Adrian! I think soon as he appeared in this book, I can't helped myself to fall for him.
Of course I was a little disappointed when he 'rejected' Marek in the beginning,. To think again, Marek was kind of a judgmental guy, and he definitely need some 'treatment' from Adrian.
A bit snobbish and and clueless , Marek that is. But I'm glad that 'one moment' after he's almost got 'everything' was an eye opener for him.
Second change love story is hit and miss for me, but this one is great, the ending is perfect.
I couldn't ask for more.

So many balls...
But as warned before, this is an MMM story. Naughty and dirty and kinky and a bit voyeurism..ehem.
Enjoyable if you set aside an insta-love among three guys.
But David can be a charmer, with his 'experience' as an openly gay living, he can easily made two super closeted gay men submitted to his will. Heh!
If you want your book a bit heavy, don't read this. But if you want some light entertaining, naughty, and some heat in this freezing holiday season, you'll probably need this one.

Once Amy Lane writes a sweet story, it's totally adorable, and unputdownable.
This book made me awake until 2.30 AM, and I rarely awake after midnight.
The cuteness? Overload, without giving you diabetes.
And this one is veeeeeeeeerrrryyyyy slow burn, and made me pulling my air, because, well, I'm a hard and fast kind of girl, you know.
But damn, this one is get into my blood and I can't stop thinking how much I wanted to be in the middle of Tino and Channing family! Because! Man, Channing....! He's that kinda man you 'need' to be in your life constantly.
And the ending was like, one of those one 'PERFECT' HEA!

OMG I'm loving this so much ! And I just can't put it into words.
And I'm so going to read it again. Because, fangirling is 'legal'!

Lovely .... *sighing happily*

I remember those good ol' day when I feel my story is something worth reading for.
I felt the same way about this book. The chemistry with (once a bully) Trey and Lane was built from the start.
The way Lane reacted to Trey were strong but he denied that because, you know, it's not easy loving someone just to have to lose them again.
Lane didn't want it to happen. But Trey is one determined guy, he broke his promise to Lane so many times not to touch him, not that I'm complained...and this words from Trey was kinda aww-ing sweet....
""I want to do what you asked of me, to keep my hands to myself, but you make it so hard by being so damn beautiful"

Who can resist such words? Not Lane, not me, not everyone of you I assume...

This is a sweet holiday story with holiday spirit, with a little beliefs that long distance relationship could work out.
I loved how it ended, at least part of it, don't worry, they have their HEA and I'm happy.
My only complain is, the little twist right at the end of the story, I don't think Trey and Lane needed it. But, I'm glad everything's okay in the end.
