Close Proximity, Book 3

Sometimes the best love stories come in two parts.

When Felix met handsome journalist Max Travers, it was lust at first sight. It was just his luck that he then had to develop a terrible case of feelings and got his heart broken. However, two and a half years later, he’s over all of that. His job is going well, he has good friends, and he doesn’t lack for male company. Which, of course, is when Max has to come bursting back into his life.

Felix Jackson will always be the one who got away to Max. He’s spent their time apart regretting his actions and hoping for a second chance. When an accident lands him in Felix’s less than tender care, Max is determined to grab this opportunity. The only problem is that Felix is equally determined that he doesn’t.

From bestselling author, Lily Morton comes a story of missed opportunities, second chances, and two very stubborn men. This is the third book in the Close Proximity series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Excerpt:

I’m halfway home when my phone beeps. Digging it out of my pocket, I look down at the text and then give a startled laugh.
Max: Hope you’re home safely.
A smile plays on my lips as I tap on my phone.
Me: Why wouldn’t I be?
Max: Well, you were walking a bit funny. I was concerned that I’d shagged your coordination out of you.
Me: I think that only happens when people get to your advanced age.
He sends me back a one-fingered emoji, and I laugh.
Me: I cannot even begin to imagine how your number ended up on my phone?
Max: I put it in while you were in the bathroom. Thought it might come in handy.
Me: For what? If I ever happen to need my autobiography written?
Max: I’ve already got the title. ‘Sassy and Shagged Out’. It’ll be a bestseller.

After Felix (Close Proximity, #3)After Felix by Lily Morton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes the best love stories come in two parts.

Felix is not a best looking guy in the world, but to Max, he's the most beautiful in his eyes. With all his snarky words, his posh and smart words, that's the things drew Max to Felix the first time he laid his eyes and ears on him.
It was a hookup deal, because Felix was 'easy' (his words not mine). Then Max became addicted to Felix, he stays longer and longer.
Sometimes he forgot about the 'f**k only' deal, and their problems started there.
Max was a nomad, adventurer, and he's still in love with his long time best friend, Ivo Risk Taker, who's in love with Henry forever.

"“And we’re okay?” he asks. I take a few moments to consider my response. “I don’t think we’re anything,” I say finally. “So, I’m not sure why you’re concerned.” The words feel like ash in my mouth, wrong and dry."

Both Max and Felix avoiding relationship lake a plaque, for their own reasons. So, they tried too hard to deny their feeling for each other.
And the first part of their love story ended hurting both of them, and me. Me! I was hurt like a bitch!

"It wasn’t his fault that I fell in love with him. After being in the same situation, I know how fucking difficult it is to be with someone when your heart is elsewhere."

Then two and a half years later, thought they still met here and there, with Max always had boys and Felix always had boyfriends, and me hating Max so freaking much, finally something happened.
Felix had to take care and took part as Max's assistant to pay his fault of giving Max a hand fracture. The reason was hilarious, you need to read it yourself.

Max tried anything to get Felix back to him. From a sneaky planned with Zeb, his stepbrother who's also Felix's boss, to making a trip with the classy The Orient Express, then Venice.
Max trying to romance Felix. Did it work?
Sometimes along the way, they met Ivo and Henry, and Felix needed his closure after all. Then after a little talk with Ivo, he knew what he had to do.
But then, Max did something surprised him...God, these two men!
They're both the epitome of stubbornness! LOL!

“You could divide your time as Before Felix and After Felix.” I pause. “Although that makes me sound a bit like Jesus , and I’m really not good-natured enough to take his role. And I can’t grow a beard to save my life.”"
"“You couldn’t divide my life like that because there is no After Felix for me. This is it. You’ve spoilt me for all other men. My tastes have narrowed to thin men with a mess of hair and a tongue sharper than a knife.”"

But don't worry about the happy ending. max and Felix definitely made for each other. And the sacrifices they made for each other was epic! The epilogue was awesome.

After Felix was a complete story that will scramble with your feeling. It's all there. The anger, jealousy, sadness, happiness, the funny, the laugh, the tears, the broken heart, the heartwarming, and confusing between love and hate relationship with Max (especially).
But in the end, all I have was love for them, because after all they had been through, they deserves to be as happy as they can be.
Sigh.
Thanks for the story Lily!
